Whoa, 10 second exposure for a planet is way too much, especially with an 8" SCT. For the bright planets you should be imaging in milliseconds. I have only been working with my ASIAIR for a couple of months and only did a quick video of Jupiter and Saturn. The exposure for Jupiter was .007 seconds, for Saturn (which is dimmer than Jupiter), was .035 seconds. I was using a 5" refractor and the ASI533MC camera. These are very bright objects and you do not need long exposures for them.
I am not familiar with ASICAP. I think you might not understand how to use it. If you are just taking single images, then an exposure of 10 seconds is way to long. You need a value in the low ms. If you are taking videos (.avi or .ser) and want to limit them to a total of 10 seconds, then you would set the exposure to 5ms (more or less) for instance and set the number of frames or total time (however that is done on ASICAP) to equal 10 seconds worth of data.
