Please pardon me for using this thread to get another message through to Markus.
Markus: It turns out ASIAIR will send move commands to the mount. I had earlier ignored a "set UTC" command from the mount because the simulator establishes UTC from the Mac's time server. However, I had also not responded to the command. By faking an "OK, I did it" response back to ASIAIR, the ASIAIR now sends calibration move commands to the mount. When I set a calibration step size of 2000ms on ASIAIR's Guide Settings, the calibration starts by sending a series of :Mw2000# commands to the "mount" ("move west by 2000 milliseconds").
So, it looks like perhaps ASIAIR does not think it was in sync with your mount when it refused to send the slew (move) commands (like it did to me). Try checking every initial parameters, such as UTC offset, time, latitude, longitude, etc. Perhaps you can try a dummy "Sync To Mount" tap before starting guide calibration. "Sync To Mount" button sends a bunch of commands to the mount, including setting the UTC.
For some reason, your sequence of disconnecting and reconnecting to the mount gets everyone in sync, and makes the ASIAIR happy enough that it is willing to send the calibration pulses.
