Problems with v2.5 Linux The Sky X Plugins

Post by mcgillca » Wed Dec 19, 2018 8:09 am

HI - I recently downloaded the v2.5 plugins for The Sky X.

Unfortunately, this plugin crashes TSX as soon as it tries to take a photo - this is the case for both the ARM7 version and the x86 version.

I've still got a copy of v2.3 and that works on both architectures.

Thank you,

Colin

I should also have said:

For both the X86 and Arm7 versions, this is with the latest DB of TSX: 12033.

This is occurs for both my cameras: ASI 1600 Pro MC and the 120MM-S.

Hi - this is the latest daily build, so just select “most recent” for the link and you should see versions for the Pi and Linux at the top.

Dear Yang,

Hi - this works on both the Pi and Linux versions, in both long exposure and high speed modes.

I also see you have removed the Debayer information for mono binned images - thank you very much!

I'll run a long term test later, but both work well in my quick test.

Thank you,

Colin

Hi - apologies for the late report - i've been busy with a new role at work.

I managed to try out both the Linux (run on a UDOO x86) and Raspberry Pi versions of this version (run on an Odroid XU4), both under ubuntu mate. I have the same problem with both.

I use an ASI 1600MC Pro for imaging and an ASI 120MM-S for guiding.

With both versions, I get an intermittent error. Initially, the images are fine - then at some point in the evening, I only get the upper left portion of the image contained in the fits file - see the attachment. The rest of the image is set to zero.

The extent is exactly the same as the size of the 120MM-S chip i.e. 1280 by 960.

I have found that version 2.3 does not seem to have this problem on the Pi version. However, on the Linux version, I get a similar but different problem with v 2.3. I use 4x4 binning to plate solve - somehow, despite resetting to 1x1 binning, I get a 4x4 binned image again at the top left of the image. Now the extent is 1164 by 880. The rest of the image is again set to zero.

I plan to go back to the Odroid for now and v 2.3, but would be good to get this fixed in both versions.

Thank you very much,

Colin

Hi - yes, I did use TSX.

My settings:
Imaging Camera: 1600MC Pro
Frame Type: Light
Binning: 1x1
Time: 600s
Long Exposure Mode
Image Reduction: None

Image type: Raw16
Gain: 0
Offset:20
Bandwidth: 40
MonoBin:1

Guide Camera: 120MM0-S
Frame Type: Light
Binning 1x1
Time: 3s
Long Exposure Mode
Image Reduction: Full

Gain: 0
Offset: 15
Bandwidth: 40

Now for most of the period, the guide camera would have been taking a small subframe around the guide star, but it also takes a full frame image at times. I looked at the images taken - the problem started just after a meridian flip. Here a full frame guide image would have been taken just before starting the full frame with the problem.

In a private email, I've sent you a link to fits files for:

1) A full frame image from the 1600 when this first occurred.
2) The full frame guider image taken just before image 1 was started.
3) A guider subframe taken while image 1 was being exposed.

These images were all taken with Driver v 2.6 (the one you posted above) on a x86 Linux box, though I have also had the same problem with Driver 2.6 on an Odroid XU4 running the Arm7 version of the driver.

Thank you very much - please let me know if you need any more information.

HI - I should also say this also happened with my standard test - 3 second continuous images with the autoguider on the focus tab, 30s continuous images for the main camera, also on the focus tab in TSX.

Occurred somewhere around 100 camera images.
