M80 with ASI224MC - non cooled

Post by Wagner Trindade » Mon Jun 19, 2017 5:24 pm

M80 from last night. I took it in the middle of a region with high light pollution.

I used about 800 frames of 3 seconds, ASI224MC, stacked on AS!2 and post-processed using Iris. My telescope is a 8", Ritchey-Chretién from GSO.
My first trial with DSO using this camera. There is still a steep learning curve, but it is very funny using it for DSO.

I've tried that technique sometime, many subs with little exposure time and when I try to make their integration with PixInsight, it's to die for. It may take more than two days.
Would you be so kind as to let me know what your work process is with AS!2?
Thank you in advance.

I've loaded all the frames in AS!2 and used "Image Stabilization" Planet, "Quality Estimator" 4, Local (AP). Hit "Analyse". After that, I've selected 75% of the frames to stack, no normalize stack, no sharpened, selected RGB Align. For alignment points, choose "Manual Draw" and take just one point at the center of the DSO, a bright star for example. In the case of the globs it is subjective, so I've just hit the center of it. And then "Stack". That is it.

I don't remember exactly, but I think the stacking took just some minutes. I use a four years old Dell notebook, Windows 10, core i5 (4 cores), 6GB RAM and the latest version of AS!2.

Hope it helps.

Thank you, Wagner. I'll try it. Just one more doubt... Subs are *ser video file or individual *fits files?
Thanks for your attention.

I used individual files but I believe you can also use videos. Have to test it.

You're welcome.
