ASI 533MC Pro random red lines

I just purchased the 533MC Pro and it is working fine, especially on my C11" EdgeHD @f/7. However, when I try it using my hyperstar to get f/2, a number of the images (not all) are showing a lot of short red lines (some green) thoughout the image. I did use darks to handle the hot pixels and camera was at -10 or -15 so I am not sure what is causing the problem. Is this a setting problem or is the camera defective?

Your camera is not defective, this is "walking noise" caused by remnants of hot pixels and some drift emerging in the capturing session.

One possible cause of this might be a faulty preparation or application of the MasterDark in ImageCalibration.

Supposing that the MasterDark was prepared and applied correctly, you can remove the artifact by applying CosmeticCorrection just after ImageCalibration (if you are using PixInsight).

A way to avoid "walking noise" completely from the first is the application of dithering during capturing.

Thanks much, Bernd. That confirms why I did not see any of this with my 294 or 533 when I recently tried it @ f/7 with my C11" as I use both darks and dithering with an OAG. When using the hyperstar, there is no good way to dither as guiding can only be done with a guide scope which is not ideal for the flexure action of the C11". So, I will try Cosmetic Correction as I do use PixInsight. Greatly appreciate your help.

In Nebulosity 4 you could get most of them by using bad pixel maps.

* make master dark
* create bad pixel map from master dark
* apply bad pixel map to the dark
* apply bad pixel map, then processed dark to the light frames (RAW)
* debayer processed light frames
* stack and process as usual.

Some apps can take hot/warm pixels from dark frame and replace with pure black instead of surrounding average (what bad pixel map processing does in Nebulosity). With RGB black at one pixel can then create false color after debayer (or wasn't captured by dark frame processing at all).
