Camera arrived today

It's here and it's working. As the sky is as usual I just played with basic dark/bias/flat. Dark current is very low compared to e2v ruby sensor, but the horizontal lines are clearly visible, especially on high gain. Flat frame has some horizontal interference-alike bands (is that normal?) - http://...

Re: ASI034mc Focal Length

Both have 5.6µm pixels, and I did a lot of imaging with such sized pixels. f/30 is not easy nor for average seeing.

Re: ASI034mc Focal Length

f/30 may be bit to much for it. I would stick to around f/20 on average seeing and use f/25-30 if it's really good.

Re: Quick question

In theory there may be (color is made by algorithms). Even so for guiding mono may be better too (more light for pixels).

Re: Linux support and implementation of INDI protocol

And Python wrappers, at least via ctypes.CDLL

For true Linux setup things like filter wheels, and probably few extra optional accessories would have to be supported for comparable with FireCapture on Windows application.

Re: Quick question

You can do more type of imaging aside of shooting through RGB filters. Sun in white light (Baader astrosolar) is shot through a narrowband filter like solar continuum. Solar H-alpha is also narrow. Moon is very ofthen shot with infrared filters. Those cases would be bad for color cameras as only som...

Re: Customs charge

1/3 of of the declared value or bit more depending on the tax levels. That seems to be right for color ASI120 :)

I got my C14 taxed :P

Re: Customs charge

You can get import duties and taxes if you buy something outside EU. Check if the package value is correct and not to high.

Can't see them. If they are still there - they shouldn't be a problem at such low intensity (comparison below).

Re: To fix the newton ring problem when do ha solar imging!

Those vertical lines looks more like sensor "noise" that would show up always on flat frames - not related to tilting the camera. There are also on this Moon http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/21/z1q5.jpg from second thread. If the camera would have strong Newton rings from Micron cover glass then t...
