Re: AVX not Tracking

>> However, the object moves significantly when guiding is enabled. How do I troubleshoot guiding? OK, there are multiple aspects when autoguiding. First, when autoguiding, there is Tracking Speed. This is the "natural" rate that your mount moves (typically sidereal rate for the stars). You can for ...

Re: RST-135 users: to be safe, do not download v1.4.4 yet!

The latest Beta v1.4.4 Firmware 5.55 that just came out may be different yet. But I think I found a workaround (1.4.4 Beta, Firmware 5.55). Start with ASIAIR Telescope Setting not selected to any mount. Go to the RainbowAstro Hubo-i hand controller's Date & Time settings. Set the GMT offset to the W...

RST-135 users: to be safe, do not download v1.4.4 yet!

There may to be a weird bug regarding the RST-135 UTC offset. To be safe, until there is some confirmation from ZWO, do not download v1.4.4 Beta yet (and also do not download any release of v1.4.4 -- set your iPad to not auto update apps). Symptom: I first set my hand-controller to UTC-8 (Pacific St...

OK, false alarm, there is no bug. It turns out that the Mount itself will reinitiate tra...

RainbowAstro RST-135 and ASIAIR 1.4.4 Beta

RainbowAstro had added the ability to get and set the UTC Offset and the Local Date and Time back in a mount firmware update at the end of January, 2020. I notice that the ASIAIR v1.4.4 Beta (firmware 5.45) now supports it. You no longer see UTC Offset of 0 in the Mount Info of the Telescope Setting...

Re: HELP : My sd card is KO and I have no backup :-(

Why do you not have a backup of the SD card?? Before you do anything else, see if the Boot partition of the existing SD card can be mounted and read. If the SD Card is partially alive, you can mount it on a Macintosh through an SD Card Reader. You should see a Boot volume show up. If it does, make a...

Re: AVX not Tracking

You might be able to discover what is wrong by doing an exposure and plate solve (noting down the RA and DEC), and then wait 4 minutes (wall clock time) to take another exposure, and do a second plate solve. Do not turn on autoguiding. If tracking is running properly at sidereal rate, the two plate ...

Re: Can't connect to home network

>> However, as a result, I can't connect to sky safari anymore on 10.0.0.1. Of course you can. You just cannot use 10.0.0.1. And you don't "connect to SkySafari on 10.0.0.1," SkySafari was the one that was earlier connected to the ASIAIR at 10.0.0.1. This is why I really hate these guys (especially ...

Re: Can't connect to home network

>> So the guiding automatically switches to pulse if there is no st4 connection? So ASIAir can guide any GOTO mount? Even those without ST4 ports? The ASIAIR will only guide through a guide camera's ST-4 port if you select "On-camera-ST4" as the telescope type. The ASIAIR will then send ST-4 command...

Re: Can't connect to home network

>> MiniGuide 120 ST4 cable to AIR's Ethernet connection (yes it seems to work fine!) How did you manage that?! The Ethernet connector on the ASIAIR is an RJ-45 (an 8P8C),, while the ST-4 uses RJ-12 (6P6C). Just look at the number of pins on an Ethernet connect and an ST-4 connector. Not only does it...
