Re: ASIAIR Pro plate solving inop

If it not a case of wrong focal lengths, the only thing I can think of is that for some reason, the file that contains the database in the microSD card is no longer accessible. Perhaps ZWO has some better guesses. You might try restoring (into a fresh microSD card) from the backup of the original mi...

Re: RA rotatation for plate solving.

Hi Gabriel, I don't know if you have seen one of my earlier posts, where I mentioned that the ASIAIR polar alignment procedure's accuracy does not depend on the starting (or ending) angle of the slew. You do not need to start with the OTA at the top dead center of the mount (counterweight pointed at...

Re: Item not delivered after a month - shoud I cancel order??

I am in the same boat, so to speak. I had ordered an EAF bracket for the SCT FTF. ZWO shipped on the 26th of May. Tracking shows that it has been stuck in Shanghai since the 28th of May. I am not in a hurry and chose free airmail (ChinaPost). You may have done that too -- if you need faster delivery...

Re: Drift alignment

Hi Vladimir, I think that we are in complete agreement that some kind of tool is needed when you have no clear view at all of the polar region. I was simply pointing out the misconception that the ASIAIR needs to see the pole itself to do Polar Alignment. Even SharpCap allows you to be up to 5º away...

Re: ASIAIR autorun randomly stops shooting

ASIAIR does not really do a Meridian Flip -- it depends on the mount to do it. From what I observed with the ASIAIR, what happens is this: a) ASIAIR waits for the mount to reach Meridian. When I did the experiment, it actually waited 30 seconds after the object has passed Meridian -- and this is whe...

Re: ASI AIR PRO and SKY SAFARI

Have you tried the following? Select "iOptron CEM40(EC)/GEM45(EC)" in ASIAIR. In SkySafari, use Scope Type "iOptron CEM/iEQ Pro/AZ Mount Pro." For SkySafari Communication settings, use Port 4030 as the ASIAIR mount proxy port for the iOptron mounts. If ASIAIR is set up as a wireless HotSpot, and you...

Re: Crosshair bug

I just tried it on 1.4.4 Beta (firmware 5.57); 11" iPad Pro. The crosshair looks perfectly fine to me. Crosshairs should always point to the perfect center of a photograpphic plate, not to a crop of it in an enlarged window. The latter would make it useless for centering an image on the plate. Plate...

Re: Drift alignment

Instead of resorting to full drift alignment (it takes a fair amount of time for the object to drift enough), you may still be able to use ASIAIR Polar Alignment even if you cannot see the pole. Short answer: if you can see a clear spot in the sky between DEC +/- 70º and DEC +/- 90º (+ for northern ...

RST-135 bug fixed in Build 17 of v1.4.4 Beta!

ZWO just released a TestFlight Beta v1.4.4 (build 17), firmware 5.57. The iOS TestFlight "What to Test" says "fix the bug of RST mount" ! I just tried it and it is as smooth as silk now. Currently, Pollux is towards the East, Capella is less than 1 hour East of my Meridian, Aldebaran is just a littl...
