Re: AVX not Tracking

You might be able to discover what is wrong by doing an exposure and plate solve (noting down the RA and DEC), and then wait 4 minutes (wall clock time) to take another exposure, and do a second plate solve. Do not turn on autoguiding. If tracking is running properly at sidereal rate, the two plate ...

Re: Can't connect to home network

>> However, as a result, I can't connect to sky safari anymore on 10.0.0.1. Of course you can. You just cannot use 10.0.0.1. And you don't "connect to SkySafari on 10.0.0.1," SkySafari was the one that was earlier connected to the ASIAIR at 10.0.0.1. This is why I really hate these guys (especially ...

Re: Can't connect to home network

>> So the guiding automatically switches to pulse if there is no st4 connection? So ASIAir can guide any GOTO mount? Even those without ST4 ports? The ASIAIR will only guide through a guide camera's ST-4 port if you select "On-camera-ST4" as the telescope type. The ASIAIR will then send ST-4 command...

Re: Can't connect to home network

>> MiniGuide 120 ST4 cable to AIR's Ethernet connection (yes it seems to work fine!) How did you manage that?! The Ethernet connector on the ASIAIR is an RJ-45 (an 8P8C),, while the ST-4 uses RJ-12 (6P6C). Just look at the number of pins on an Ethernet connect and an ST-4 connector. Not only does it...

Re: Can't connect to home network

OK, this must mean something I don't understand then:

>> However now I can't attach my guider (it's the ZWO 120mm Mini-Guider) to the Pro box as the port is taken up by the extender.

Sorry, can't help if I don't understand the problem.

Cheers,
Chen

Re: Can't connect to home network

This is what I still don't understand. Why does connecting the LAN ports have to do with the loss of a USB Port on the ASIAIR? There is no need at all to connect to the USB Port of a WiFI extender. By the way, the Lacerta MGEN-3 supports multi-star guiding. I think I will get one to replace the ASIA...

Re: Rainbow Astro RST-135

Hi again, Rick, I have for a number of years now, been able to test guiding with an indoor setup (thus no "seeing" problem). and can guide the RST-135 using ASIAIR to between 0.25 and 0.4 arc-second total RMS error. The test setup is basically simulating star movement on a celestial sphere from a la...

Re: Can't connect to home network

Hi Rick, I don't understand... are you using the USB port on the ASIAIR Pro to power the extender, and therefore lost the use of a USB port? If so, just power it off something like this: https://powerwerx.com/usbbuddy-powerpole-usb-converter-device-charger If you are already using PowerPoles for dis...

Re: Platesolve failuer by SkyWatcher Mak90 with extender barrel

I don't quite understand what you are trying to do, are you trying to widen the field? If there are more stars after you have inserted the extra extender, the focal length of your optical system should have become shorter, not longer (1450mm) as you have mentioned. Try adjusting your plate solve the...

Re: ASIAIR autorun randomly stops shooting

Hi Matt, Short answer: turn off dithering when taking flats and darks. What astro hobbyist calls dither is the process of moving the guide star by N pixels every now and then in the X and in the Y directions. (Different from dithering that we learn in college signal processing classes.) This will ca...
