Re: IMX 411

since a new ASI camera with IMX428 failed due to very, very high cost of the chip, then I think this IMX411 (or I'd even evaluate IMX161 just because it is smaller, has less megapixels (50 is really enough), it is available now and hopefully will be much cheaper than IMX411) makes sense to evaluate ...

Re: New Sony sensor - IMX428

Sean: thank you for your effort considering and evaluation the options. I really appreciate it! thank you! It's a pity that this won't happen now :( let's hope the price would drop in the future...

Re: New Sony sensor - IMX428

Sean: thanks for the information, but that was expected, that the price would be very high at the moment... but what about "performance" ??? sure that the best chips for camera makers are those with reasonable good performance and very low cost (so as you sell lot of them with reasonably high profit...

Re: New Sony sensor - IMX428

Sean: please keep us updated with any findings on the IMX428 opportunity... I'd like to pair it with my portable Newtonian Astrograph (see here) that I'd like to use for mainly narrow-band imaging (as for color imaging I already have the best ever ASI094MC Pro :D)

That sounds nice, it would be great if you could share with use some preliminary "analysis" :)

from the PR point of view (see e.g.: here) it sounds like a dream chip :D

Re: IMX 411

I think that the Type 4.2 (diagonal 66mm) is quite large for 99% of astronomical telescopes. Even Type 3.4 (diagonal 55mm) is difficult to illuminate (and expect reasonable spots in the edge of the FOV) with anything smaller than a 4" corrector (and even the newest 4" Wynne from ASA is not that perf...

Re: New Sony sensor - IMX428

I find the IMX428 the most attractive chip for future mono CMOS cameras. This should be a direct replacement for the well-known (super performing) CCD chip ICX694 that is a killer for narrow-band imaging (but it has 5e- readout noise) while the improved 3rd generation of pregious global shutter shal...
