Re: zoom finder scope

Personally I don't see the need for zoom guide scope.
If your guide scope and imaging scope are aligned your target should be in your imaging scope if it's on guide scope.
You do syncing?
Anyway now that I have started using plate solving my guide scope is for guiding as it should.

Re: Guiding problem with Celestron Advanced GT and ASI174MM

Okay now I get it.
Something might be wrong then.
Have you checked the cables and connections?
As an alternative you could try guiding via as common.

Re: Guiding problem with Celestron Advanced GT and ASI174MM

Sorry I don't understand your problem.
The star should move while doing calibration.
Does it move outside the field?

Re: Guiding problem with Celestron Advanced GT and ASI174MM

When you are doing calibration the calibration star should move in west, east, south and north.
Before calibration you should put your guiding parameters, focal length and pixel size (brain icon), so the calibration takes suitable number of steps.

Re: Halo around bright stars with Ha filter???

Llooks good.
And it's quite normal to have halos with brighter stars.
Better (and more expensive) filters like Astrodon are somewhat better in that regard.

Re: Is there a way to guide in 12bit mode with ASI120MM?

I'm not sure I understand. Why would you want to guide in 12bit mode?
I see no reason.

Re: Problems taking flats with ASI1600MC-C

Yes, it's better to use longer exposure for flats.
Aim at 1 seconds. You can use sheet of paper or white t-shirt.

Re: 178 MMC flat

You can try to clean them but that is then a regular exercise.
Here is a calculator for measuring where your dust bunnies are

Re: 178 MMC flat

Those are dust bunnies (probably in your filter).
That is one reason you take flats.

Looked at fits files and after stretching they looked pretty normal to me.
