Re: MFW/EFW camera side M42 port too large for ASI1600

A correction. Although a male M42 - 1.25" nosepiece screwed in tightly, nothing else did. The ZWO - Nikon F-mount had the same problem as my ASI1600. I don't know why ZWO would sell two different styles of filter wheels with a porthole that didn't meet the specs for its own products - MFW and EFW. I...

Re: EAF interface different between two installs

ASICAP solved my problem. I had downloaded it on my bigger laptop and that is why it was OK but my small laptop wasn't.

MFW/EFW camera side M42 port too large for ASI1600

My ASI1600MM Pro cannot be tightened to the filter wheel on the camera side. It simply slides in without making any connection to the threads. Yet, on the scope side, it will tighten normally. I am looking for suggestions to make a normal connection. I could use a thin M42 M-F adapter except that wh...

Re: EAF interface different between two installs

Thanks Katherine. I have ASICAP but never tried it. I prefer the native driver but it must be part of something else. I don't have ASICAP on my small laptop and maybe that is the difference.

EAF interface different between two installs

I have two laptops that I use with my ASI gear. I use SharpCap for my imaging sessions. SCap on one PC lists EAF in the focuser section and I can control focus. I decided to switch to a smaller laptop and ran into a completely different environment. SCap couldn't find EAF. I went to ZWO support and ...

ASiair for capturing the sun?

I need a lot of familiarization with ASiair. I am having problems and need to practice with it. Since clear night skies are at such a premium these days, I am wondering if playing with it during the day might be an option. Things like guiding won't work and I'm unsure about the EAF focuser. But I ho...

EAF current draw

When I go out into the field I won't be able to use AC power like I can at home. I've read the docs for the EAF and the only information is that it needs 12vDC. I have a small XT Power unit that will deliver 12vDC but only 1A. Is that enough power to drive the EAF?

App to control EAF

No PC apps that I currently use can control the EAF. ASiair does but I'm running into problems with certain ASiair functions. E.G guiding with an ASI290 and ZWO mini guide scope. Until I get those sorted out, I'd like to control it from my PC. The docs say ASCOm can be used but I have no idea how. I...

Re: Specialty bolts needed to attaching EAF to AT65EDQ

Yes, if I could find ones long enough. However, I don't know the bolt size which makes it hard to look for a longer bolt. I asked Astronomics about the bolts and they couldn't help me.

I got around the problem by drilling a hole in the bracket and using the tension bolt.

Re: ASIAIR User Feedback

Good to know. One competitor already supports Sony so it can't be that hard.
