Re: Flat frames for OSC images

I think I am using something named "16 inch Spike-A Flat Fielder" based on my own blog post http://blog.astrofotky.cz/pavelpech/?p=1160

but I also purchased some "Lacerta el-panel" some 2 years ago, but haven't used it yet :-) am too busy with other things...

Re: Flat frames for OSC images

and don't be scared if you max-STF-stretch the calibrated lights in PixOutsight and see a subtle color gradient in the data. Even the perfectly most (my images) calibrated FITs will show some color gradient in max STF in Pixi because Pixi really ultra stretches the data...

Re: Flat frames for OSC images

it's not that simple. With OSC color camera you have to: 1. attempt to have a uniform/non-gradient light for taking the flat frames (there are some "neutral" EL-panels too on the market) or shoot night-sky flats (twilight etc.) 2. check the lowest ADU value in the corners and compare to the highest ...

Re: ASI Camera with full frame sensor?

wolpi, I cannot give you any fixed estimate, but I can tell you one thing. I (and many others) have been waiting for a large mono new-generation CMOS chip for many, many years. Actually I have used the CCD chip KAI-11002ME for last 8 years as there wasn't anything newer or better. And there is no an...

Re: EOS Lens Adapter Loose - EFW Version

best way to make it tight is to buy a EOS lens adapter that has a contra-screw-tightening nut like the adapter from Geoptik (but it also isn't super perfect as the nut is kind small and has only little of travel, but it's the best (so far) commercially available product - BECAUSE it has NOT PLAY at ...

Re: Question about ASI 071 MC Pro and UV-IR Cut filter

even reflecting astrographs do have certain amount of glass in the optical path - I mean, the field/coma correctors etc. That is refracting optics - that brings the problems with IR wavelengths. For DSO imaging you risk bigger and bloated stars if not using an UV/IR cut filter... I think ZWO doesn't...

Re: Still waiting for IMX235 AQR A7S sensor integration ?

I only fear if that sensor would not have the same problem (for DSO) like the ASI294 camera has (color-ed background issue that can't be 100% calibrated out)... what I'd be more interested in is the IMX342... see https://www.sony-semicon.co.jp/products_en/IS/sensor0/img/product/cmos/IMX342LLA_Flyer....

Re: Canon FD adapter

I think that what would make lot more sense for ZWO is to produce a copy of this thing: https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p2836_Geoptik-CCD-Kamera-Adapter-mit-T2-Anschluss-fuer-Canon-EOS-Objektive.html but a bit improved :-) that Geoptik thing is great, but still...

Re: Sensor not central to camera

0.2mm is very, very, very large number. With DSLR camera lenses, I have to sometimes tune them with 0.05mm and 0.02mm "washer" to make the bayonet square to my camera (that also must be perfect between chip and bayonet), for this a "washer" like thin foil could be used, see, e.g.: https://www.ebay.c...

Re: Any fix for amp glow ASI183MC

for amp-glow tests (calibration tests) you may check my experience where I describe how to quickly check if calibration works (on CMOS cameras) http://blog.astrofotky.cz/pavelpech/?p=1442 BTW with CMOSes there will always be a very, very little leftovers. Maybe only if you take the individual darks ...
