Re: ASIAIR User Feedback

Hi Sam, I had considered your response to this previous suggestion on WiFi config: 5. I did see that I can change the WiFi SSID. Can I also change the WiFI password? (I did not notice an option for that). no currently, because there is no reset button, that is terrible if you cannot remember the pas...

Re: Connecting Celestron CG5 Advanced GT

Do you have the Celestron #93920 cable? https://www.celestron.com/products/nexstar-rs-232-cable This cable plugs into the modular jack on your Nexstar hand controller and provides the RS-232 serial DB-9 Female connector which will attach to the DB-9 Male connector supplied with the ASIair. The RS-23...

Re: ASIAIR User Feedback

Hi SNR1 - I just noticed your message. The easiest way to connect the ASIair to a Gemini 2 is via a USB cable. You'll need the same type of USB cable used to connect a USB printer (USB Type-A male to USB Type-B male connection). The USB Type-B end connects to the port labeled "USB" on the Gemini 2 (...

Re: Daylight saving time

I have not noticed this issue when using my ASIair when daylight saving time is active and my plate-solving has worked without issue. How are you controlling your ASIair? Do you use a tablet or phone? What type? Have you verified the time accuracy on that device? If the time is wrong, I'd check the ...

Re: Connecting Celestron CG5 Advanced GT

Did you get this resolved?

Older Celestron Nexstar hand-controllers have a modular jack on the back-side of the hand-controller which is the serial port. Newer Celestron NexStar controllers now use a USB jack. Which hand-box do you have?

Re: ASIAir Camera support

I know this wont be what you want to read, but to be fair ... I pre-ordered the ASIair before it was a shipping product and even back then the website says (the first thing in the product description after "astrophotography has never been easier" reads: ASIAIR is a smart WiFi device that allows you ...

Re: Multiple ASIair's simultaneously

This would be a nice feature/enhancement request. I brought up a similar question to Sam a while back. I wanted to have the ASIair join my phone's hot-spot network instead of me having make my phone join the ASI's network. Sam said the reason they didn't want to do that is because there is no hardwa...

Re: ASI Air - EAA Live stacking

I'm all for this!! ZWO used to distribute "AstroLive" but that software was discontinued. I'm struggling to find something that works on a Mac or (better yet) on my iPad. I don't EAA for imaging... but when I do public outreach there are a lot of objects that the public can't visually spot through t...

Re: ASIAir wifi won't work at all

Hi CrossoverManiac, The Raspberry Pi doesn't have a WiFi light. The only lights are a red "power" light (which can be surpressed via software) and a yellow/green "activity" light (blinks when the Pi is reading/writing data to the microSD card) and there are also lights on the physical ethernet port ...

Re: Feature Request: Polar Alignment

I'm not nuts about the method of polar alignment in PHD2 (basically a form of drift alignment that takes time to refine). There are other methods that are faster and more accurate. SharpCap Pro and PoleMaster both use a method where you rotate the mount in RA while a camera tracks the position of a ...
