Re: Sudden Offset (and gain) Change

Hi there Not sure about this, but I really suspect dew happened on the lens. Maybe it vanished and get better SNR. The offset had dropped back down to "normal". What is normal means? Definitely not dew. The optics and the sky were clear throughout the night. I have over an hour's worth of images th...

Sudden Offset (and gain) Change

Last night the offset (and maybe the gain) suddenly changed on my ZWO ASI 183MM Pro cooled camera. These are the events that happened: 1. I connected the camera through SharpCap to do a Polar Alignment with the main imaging camera and scope. When complete, I disconnected the camera and closed SharpC...

Re: EOS Lens Adapter Loose - EFW Version

Please take a look of previous post, I told one way to make adapter tighter. I think I have taken care of it. I purchased 0.0125 inch (0.32mm) polyester shim stock and cut it into a washer, with a small hole in it. https://www.mcmaster.com/9513k21 That seems to have removed most or all of the slop ...

Re: EOS Lens Adapter Loose - EFW Version

Hi, I too own a ZWO-EFW-EOS, and it has a tremendous amount of play in it. I measured the gap to be 0.3mm Is there a spacer to tighten this up, or can I get the newer version, that supposedly is tighter? It is loose on all my lenses (at least 6 of them), causing tilt, and thus stars get elongated fr...

SharpCap Gain versus ZWO Gain

What is the conversion to go from the Gain that SharpCap displays, which is 0 to 600, on their slider, to the actual gain of the ASI 224MC, which goes from 0 to 350? (0 db to 35 db). Is the SharpCap Gain, db? That is, 600 is 60 db? (If so, I would never use that setting, as it is much too high). Or ...

Re: Any fix for amp glow ASI183MC

Hi again, This is a link to my light (24 X Ha and 24 X OIII) and dark (41X) frames, all 300 seconds long, same gain, offset and temperature (-15C).: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1K49uW5uw3bs3155E_FwkrE8TJ_90xIks But except for perhaps one bright line, I am now thinking that the dark frames did c...

Re: Any fix for amp glow ASI183MC

I too cannot get rid of all the amp glow, using a large stack of dark frames that were taken at identical gain, offset, exposure and temperature. This is a serious issue, that needs to be resolved. It is true for both my 183MM Pro and 183MC Pro. My most recent experience with non-removable amp glow ...

FITS header does not have offset information

Hi, I have two ZWO ASI 183 cameras. The MM Pro and the MC Pro. They are amazing. (well, except for the amp glow, but that is another topic). The issue I am currently having is that the offset used in any image is not shown in the FITS header. This is important to me, as I am trying to maximize the d...

Re: A 16.5mm T2-spacer would be nice

Oh! My mistake!

My two ZWO cameras* also came with a "zero-length" M48-to-T2 thread adapter. that is, it does not add to the length of the 16.5mm spacer.

So the supplied 16.mm spacer now works perfectly.

*I have 4 ZWO camera so far. I may buy two more.

Thank you ZWO!

A 16.5mm T2-spacer would be nice

Hi, It would be great if ZWO could provide a 16.5 mm length T2 (M42x0.75) spacer, with male threads on one side and female on the other. Then, for most reducer-correctors, which have been designed for 55mm back-focus, using a ZWO ASI 183C or ASI 1600, etc,, that have the 6.5mm setback. one could get...
