It depends on your needs.
For daytime, you will need an IR-Cut, unless your photography interest is in capturing near-IR B/W photos.
For astronomical targets, you will also need an IR-Cut to get correct colors of nebulas and stars, etc. Unless you are interested in near-IR, e.g, near IR guiding, near IR parts of Moon and planets, etc.
Just inspect the QE sensitivity of the camera, and decide what parts of the spectrum you want to not include.
