Dear all,
I have had a number of issues imaging Comet ZTF with my AM5 mount.
I pointed my scope at Comet ZTF with my ASIair's planetarium program, positioned it a bit to a side in the field of view to "make room" for the tail, and started guiding on the comet. In doing so, the comet stays put in the field of view but the actual position in the sky will change. At some point, the ASIair itself decided that it was not pointing in the right direction, so it re-centered the comet's head and started guiding on some random star, which yielded pinpoint stars but a trailed comet.
I was hoping that turning auto-centering off would do the trick but it didn't.
So I have the following questions. Is there a way to:
1) Make sure ASIair will never re-center the FOV "on its own initiative"? I would like it to be pointing where I want, for as long as I want.
2) Disable automatic star selection?
3) Reduce the size of the guiding box when guiding on the comet's tail (as nearby stars that are in the comet's way can trick the autoguiding application, which will stop guiding on the comet and start guiding on the star instead)?
4) Have the ZWO AM5 mount track actively the comet in RA and DEC (but maybe I'm asking too much)?
Thanks in advance
