I am running new version 2.0 on a brand new ASI Air Plus.
I just bought a new refractor an AstroTech102ED and a new 50 mm Astromania guide scope with 240 mm focal length. I'm using the Zwo mini guide camera.
It goes to M33 finds it and centers it. And then I try to guide. It finds about 10 guide stars and picks one. First I have to do a calibration. At the end of the calibration it gives me two error messages:
- RA and Dec rates vary by an unexpected amount
Followed by
- Your Max Dec Duration setting is preventing PHD from making adequate corrections to keep the guide star locked. Increase the Max Dec Duration setting to allow PHD2 to make the needed corrections
Last night the second message said it was the Max RA Duration setting that was wrong and needed to be increased.
Anyway I went in and increased the Dec setting from the default 2000 to 3,000 then 4,000 then 5,000 it made no difference. Guiding was terrible, about 20 a/s instead of .7. Later it settled down to around 4 a/s, still unacceptable accuracy.
Just to try things I changed the guide scope to a smaller focal length. It made no difference. I put the big guide scope back on and ran it again. Not only did I get the same error messages, after finally setting the max Dec Duration to 10,000 I got a new error message:
"Even using the maximum moves, phd2 can't adequate adequately correct for the large guide star movements in Dec. Guiding will be impaired until you correct the problem".
This night it was Dec, last night it was RA.
Does anyone know what the problem is and how to correct it?
