Hello!
I'm new to the forums, and look forward to learning from the experts here.
I've used the 533MC Pro for several months now, and love it. I recently purchased a 2600MC Pro last month, and am trying to get a handle on it compared to the 533.
In general, my 2600's subexposures seem darker than the 533's subs, even after calibration. PixInsight's statistics process seems to verify this. I posed the question in CN and got some really great insight (including the lesson to compare calibrated subs, not raw!). I recognize the 14 vs 16 bit sensor is probably contributing to some of the differences I'm seeing.
One reply noted that, in the 2600 sub's FITS header, the EGain (e-/ADU) value was wrong. Instead of being 0.25 for a gain setting of 100, which the graph on the 2600's web page shows, the EGain value is 1.0. In fact, the value was identical to the 533's EGain, but the FITS header did correctly identify the camera as the 2600. I did a few test exposures with the 2600 at different gain settings, and the EGain values in the FITS headers were proportionally off as well.
So, a couple of questions:
- Would this erroneous FITS header data have an effect on how the ASIAir plus/app, or PixInsight, handles the data?
- If so, is there a fix that a 2600 newbie could accomplish?
Thanks for your help!
Gary
