I hope some of you have had some luck with the RG 58 antenna version as I am no longer able to use any antenna that lasts more than a few seconds. I have had to resort to attaching a modem to the Ethernet input of the ASIAIR+ unit and used the modems WiFi to get connected; works great. If you were able to get the RG 58 antenna working then you should leave it in place and hope for the best as moving it in and out may cause it to stop working. There seems to be more going on than originally expected. It is definitely a connection issue with the antenna as I can see the wifi signal being transmitted using a WiFi Analyzer app on my phone. The amplitude of the signal is the same with or without the antenna inserted but if I get a brief connection with the antenna the amplitude jumps way up.
If you want to go the route I did, both a router and AP will work. I am using an old Cisco router I had but I also tested a Cisco range extender which worked as well. Unfortunately the range extender was AC powered. However, I have found a product, Micro Tik RBWAP2ND, which should work the best. The input voltage is 11 to 56 volt and it has a connector for the DC input so you should be able to power it from the ASIAIR+ and it is for outdoor use and not expensive. Just be aware that I have not tested it but it should work straight out of the box.
