There's an incompatibility between the current INDI driver used in the ASIAIR firmware and the Celestron CPC mount. It results in tracking stalls any time a move operation is commanded (manual slew or during guiding calibration).
I've got a fix for it that works for my mount, but before I send pull request to the indilib project I'd like to try to confirm the scope (harhar) of the issue (https://github.com/indilib/indi/issues/1592).
Here's the basic ask.
- Align mount and ensure tracking is enabled (can be completely bogus alignment in your living room)
- Open the ASIAIR app
- Use the green directional slewing arrows to point your mount up or down for one second, then listen/watch carefully after you release the button.
- Repeat with left or right arrow, releasing again after one second and listening carefully to the mount.
In either case, do you notice that the mount stops tracking at all? In my case one or both axes will stall completely for 5-10 seconds. This is annoying but tolerable for manual slewing but it kills guiding calibration on my scope.
Given the impact I have a hard time believing this is affecting every Celestron mount and am wondering if its an issue with the CPC specifically or maybe just their AltAz mounts. FWIW i have the latest firmware on the hand controller and motor controllers.
If you do this, thank you (!) and could you just add a note with your results and which mount you have?
