I had a chance to use the ASIAir with my 10Micron 1000HPS last night.
The mount is capable of unguided tracking and dithering on a timer. My initial plan was to do just that, the OAG and guide camera were removed from my imaging train.
Then I realized since dithering is part of the ASIAir guide module. It was uncertain how the ASI and the mount would coordinate dithering. Since the exposure schedule would likely be interrupted by a temperature-induced EAF event, I could not see a solution.
So a last-minute decision was made to put the OAG and guide camera back in the train. I did not want the ASIAir giving a lot of corrections chasing the seeing. So the guide cam exposure was lengthened to 3 seconds and Aggressiveness turned down to 5%. I built a model of about 20 stars.
Unfortunately, the scope was balanced earlier in the day and I forgot to re-balance in DEC! Looking at my subs in the morning, I was amazed at how good they were despite this. I have not looked at the PHD logs yet.
One other glitch - the Meridian Flip failed. Not sure why. Tonight I will of course have to rebuild the model since the old one contains the DEC imbalance. Then I can select a target close to transit and see what is happening with meridian flip.
Bottom line is, the ASIAir can control the 10Micron. Many 10M users go unguided, and I still need to determine how that can be done and still coordinate dithering with camera. Also need to determine what happened with the meridian flip.
