Gain and Offset

We need full control over gain and offset with ASi Air PRO. My 2600mc maxes out at gain 100 and I have no offset options. This is temporarily acceptable but I expect to have full access to my cameras functionality in the coming software updates.

Swizerlan Sorry, for now there is no plan to open the digital gain and offset options.

@asiair@zwo#43957 Why not? The Autoguider has access to the entire gain? Imaging at high gain is very useful for shooting 1-3 fps filling the well and having extremely low read noise. Also I prefer to image slightly above 100 at gain 105-120, its noticeably cleaner.

Also what is the current offset defaulted to?

I agree. Offset and Gain should be completely open for control. If you would like to also keep the "easy" option L/M/H, that is okay, but for users who wish to have more control, it should not be an issue to be able to set the Offset and Gain to all values 0-limit.

I don’t get it. What is so important to have this offset setting? Does anyone really understand what’s offset mean in digital gain in camera control, or just want it because of the trendy thing came from the popular, seasoned amateur astronomers? Most of times, digital camera designers already calculated the offset voltages from the driving circuits that causes noise in the digitizer’s output. This is calculated and compensated for during the designing and software development. So. Unless you’re really using your Astro cameras to inspect semiconductor wafer plates. What’s the big deal? Even and older wafer inspection cameras, which has 80 times larger number of megapixels than our cams has this offset calculated and calibrated into the preset digital gain settings to prevent outrageous unwanted noise best based on the particular image sensor being used.
