Hi Guys I have a problem that I have been trying to solve and need some help and your thoughts, please
I have had an ASIAirpro for some time now but haven’t really used it much till now.I am an android user and have always had some connection issues. But it seems alot worse since the last firmware update.this is my gear,
-Ioptron GEM45 with a REDCAT 51 camera ASI2600C with a 120mm as guide camera in a TPO UltraWide 180 f/4.5
-I was using an Android S7 but I purchase a Tab S6 lite to control the ASIair. With the recommended 4 gig ram
-App ver is 1.53(7.29) ver2.69 Dev3.
When it’s working it's great and I really enjoy the plate solve option. It solves quickly and easily.
The issue I am having is the mount will not connect in app.The cameras do connect no problem but the mount will not.I have spent about 10 hours trying to problem solve the issue. But last night was the last straw, it was a really nice clear night which are few and far between.I set everything up but the mount would not connect I tried so many things and in the end, I connected PHD and used the ioptron software which didn’t work well.
Here is what I have tried so far.
The app takes ages to connect to the ASIair anyway it connects and reconnects about 4 times and I find this is the best way to start everything up.This is my steps in order
-Do not plug guide camera in
-Power up ASIAir
-In settings in Ipad change network to ASIair
-Load app
-Green connect screen comes up working circle for about 1.5 mins longer sometimes
-Will go to the main app screen then it disconnects and reconnects showing all boxes full i.e. camera mount etc
-may have to add Long/Lat
-Should see the small error message “failed to read xml value” mount not connected
-then connect mount (should work)
-Connect autoguider and select it in guide camera-then ready to go to PA alignment
Total time 5-10 mins to connect.
Ok so this was working fine till last night then I just couldn’t get the mount to connect.
I did a bit of reading on the ZWO forums and tried the following:
-After a failed connects unplug the ASIAir to de power before I tried again.
-I added an unpowered USB hub to try to connect which worked for a start then it didn’t.
-I plugged the mount cable into the camera USB and that seemed to be the best connection.
-I tried 6 different cables and I connected via a PC to check the ioptron software and mount all connected with no problems.
-I reinstalled app and reinstalled the ASIAir app software via the backup method using win32diskimager
-I did a reset on the unit(via the little black button)
-I added a modem via the Ethernet port but I couldn’t connect at all
-I installed a pc emulator and tried to connect but had no luck
-I changed to 5G in the setup to see if that made a difference.
-I tried to just connect the mount with no other devices connected didn’t make a difference.
-I am using the ZWO power brick 12v not a battery-could this be an issue?
I probably did more but cannot remember everything I tried
When it goes it is stable and works all night but if it doesn’t connect it’s a shocker and really buggers up the night. Its a real shame because I like using it.
The only thing I haven’t tried is updating the mount firmware.I haven’t got the cable so it’s been ordered and is on the way
I am out of ideas now.The main thing I see is after the app connection if you get the error message “failed to read xml value” the mount always connects but if you don’t see that message it never connects which seems a bit strange.
I would really like some thoughts here I am over 10-15 hours in the troubleshooting and not much further ahead.
Many thanks
Stu
