Pryde If I do slew rate 8 for 23.9 seconds then I end up at about 58 degrees. I wonder if the rate is the bug?
Heh, heh, 0-based vs 1-based number system? Computer types make that mistake all the time.
However, I would have chosen the fastest rate myself too, but slew for a shorter time to get the 60 degrees. I need to print out what I was returning to ASIAIR when it is asking for coordinate information.
By the way, when I ran the experiment, I had placed my polar axis right on top of the NCP. It is a luxury of having a simulator. In real life (unless you are on a fixed pier, that wouldn't be the case). So, the sweep should have followed a constant-declination arc in the sky.
Even if the angles are not correct, the simulator did move (to paraphrase some ancient guy, "Eppur si muove" :-) while all the reports that I have read says their mounts, like yours, are stuck. (Interesting though that you saw (heard) that initial 1.7 second slew; just not at the rate=9 slew.
By the way, my simulator should work with the SkyWatcher version of SynScan in addition to the Celestron version. I also have EQMOD implemented. So if you can tell me if you are using SynScan or EQMOD with your HEQ5, I can try running that instead of the AVX next time. I was just using AVX because most of the complaints are about AVX.
One odd piece is that for SynScan, I use the max slew speed of 1500x (just like NexStar), but for EQMOD, I had set the max slew rate of the T1 motor controller to 800x. If you are using EQMOD, please tell me what your max slew rate is, so I can try to match your mount.
Also, can you please try setting the slew speed slider to maximum and tell me what you see? ASIAIR was showing "9" for the AVX earlier this evening. (By the way, the advantage of a simulator is I don't have to wait until it is dark :-). Also, please try slewing at that maximum speed manually to see if the mount actually moves (which you can do in daylight too :-). I will then also try running it and see what ASIAIR actually sends to the simulator when it tries to slew at maximum speed.
By the way, have you tried v1.5.1 beta (came out last week)? I don't know if they have fixed this particular problem. If so, we are just wasting time. I don't know why no one on the Facebook ASIAIR page has mentioned the v1.5.1 beta yet after so many days (I don't think I have some pre-beta iOS TestFlight push from ZWO). I also don't have a Facebook account for the usual reasons.
