Hi guys,
Strangely if that this sensor has not been yet discussed here, but i haven't found any matches on the forum through search.
So, as I found from sony product list, this sensor is just great for planetary imaging.
1) It has small pixel (1,45um), so, for example, no barlow would be required in case of using it with Schmidt-Cassegrian telescope. For Newtonian, the barlow magnification should not be too strong so it looks better to me, since I found strong barlows tend to show some chromatism.
2) It has monochrome version
3) It is very low noisy. The SNR1s value attributed in the sony product list is 0.52. However, it is measured at fixed focal ratio, not at fixed object size (in pixels). If we rescale it to, say, imx178 pixel size, we obtain 0.52*(1,45/2,4)2 = 0.19, that is 27% less than imx178
4) It has 8MP resolution
So, is there something terrible that I missed about this sensor, or should we expect ASI 415 camera in the future?
